Communications and Operations Associate
Jacob Wills is the communications and operations associate at the FACT Coalition, based in Washington, DC. Prior to working with FACT, Jacob directed issue-based campaigns that raised over $750,000 for progressive organizations including Environment America and U.S. PIRG. He used grassroots organizing to build support and raise awareness for several campaigns, including introducing a bottle bill to promote recycling in Maryland, strengthening protections for waterways such as the Chesapeake Bay, and preserving funding for our national parks through the Land and Water Conservation Fund. While on these campaigns, Jacob trained hundreds of young activists to implement campaign tactics like press events, opinion media, and constituency outreach. The offices that Jacob oversaw held several press conferences, submitted over one hundred opinion media pieces, and collected over 50,000 petitions on the campaign to protect America’s waterways alone. This work helped to build enough public support to convince the Obama Administration to finalize a rule to protect waterways nationwide.
Jacob has worked for several campaigns, including state and local races, congressional races, and the 2012 presidential election, where he served as a Field Organizer for Obama for America. Between two offices, in Warren and Clarke counties in Virginia, he managed over 150 volunteers. As a Field Organizer, he developed partnerships with Democratic leaders and other key community organizations, and coordinated special events like fundraisers, trainings, and debate-watching parties to build an active political community in rural Virginia.
Jacob holds a degree in History and Political Science with a minor in Public Justice from the State University of New York in Oswego, New York.
