Clark Gascoigne is the Deputy Director of the FACT Coalition in Washington, DC, where he is responsible for working with the Executive Director and the Steering Committee in the planning, coordination, and management of FACT. In addition to supporting the Coalition’s advocacy campaigns, Mr. Gascoigne represents the Coalition in high-level meetings with government officials; he oversees FACT’s communications; and he helps to build the Coalition by recruiting new member groups and deepening the engagement of existing partners in Washington and throughout the country. Mr. Gascoigne previously served a stint as FACT’s Interim Executive Director from November 2015 to April 2016.
Mr. Gascoigne has several years of experience making an impact on tax and transparency issues, both in the United States and around the world. He currently represents FACT on the Steering Committee of Americans for Tax Fairness and on the Coordinating Committee of the Global Alliance for Tax Justice. He joined FACT after nearly seven years at Global Financial Integrity (GFI), where he served as the organization’s communications director. In his capacity with GFI, Mr. Gascoigne was actively involved with the FACT Coalition since its formation in 2011.
Mr. Gascoigne has both organized and presented at numerous conferences worldwide—in locations as varied as Brazil, France, Mexico, Norway, Peru, the Philippines, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States. He has been published by numerous publications, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and Fortune Magazine; he is routinely quoted by major media outlets such as Bloomberg News, Reuters, and Politico; and he has appeared on many radio and TV channels, including National Public Radio, Marketplace, and Al Jazeera English, among others.
Before becoming GFI’s communications director in 2011, Mr. Gascoigne previously served as the Director of New Media for both GFI and the Task Force on Financial Integrity & Economic Development (since renamed the Financial Transparency Coalition), where he oversaw the online communications efforts for both organizations. He also has experience on numerous political campaigns. Mr. Gascoigne holds a degree in Government & Legal Studies with a minor in Theater from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine.
